Menstrual blood stem cells

Menstrual blood derived stem cells first described in 2007 as endometrial regenerative cells (ERC). They are mesenchymal-like stem cells, express multipotent markers and are able to differentiate into chondrogenic, adipogenic, osteogenic, neurogenic, and cardiogenic cell lineages. Studies in animal models or clinical trials will be required to more fully characterize these cells and their potential application.
