History

The SCRC was founded in June 2011 in Vilnius, Lithuania by Prof.Dr. Vladas Algirdas Bumelis. In June 2012 SCRC established Lithuanian Stem cell cluster and became clusters coordinator.

In September 2012 Lithuanian Stem cell cluster received EU funding to build and establish cluster infrastructure.

The SCRC will be located on the third floor of the Northway Medical Centre (NMC).The renovation will generate approximately 140 m2 of state-of-the-art cGMP laboratory space (clean room facility) and surgery rooms to deliver clinical trials using cell therapy. Furthermore, an adjacent support laboratory will be established for the maintenance of stem cell stocks and tissue banking. The specification and operation of the facility will meet the new EU regulatory standards for Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs) with the overall objective of being compliant with EMA guidelines.

In addition to the infrastructure and technical expertise, there is extensive QA/QC and regulatory experience available to ensure necessary compliance during the development of each specific cellular product.

Approximate date of completion is 2014.
